Editorial Review

Amy Grant returns with a plethora of NEW music ! Somewhere Down The Road is a unique album full of 6 brand new songs, 2 previously unreleased songs, a new recoding of a classic song "Arms Of Love", and rounded out with 3 of her best loved story-songs. The theme for the album is stories & journeys. Amy has always been a great storyteller and many of her most impactful songs have come from her own journey as she sings about the honesty of life, it's joys and struggles, and ultimately the hope she has found in faith and love. The songs on Somewhere Down The Road read like journal entries that will resonate with anyone who grapples with wanting answers to life's toughest questions. Topics range from being honest with yourself & God (Better Than A Hallelujah), waiting for answers that come over time (Overnight), and learning to listen to people before `fixing' them (Come Into My World), resilience in the face of fear (Unafraid), walking in someone elses shoes (Third World Woman), assurance that you are not forgotten (Arms Of Love NEW RECORDING) and much more. There is something for any Amy Grant fan on Somewhere Down The Road from brand new recordings, previously unreleased studio recordings, concert favorites that have never been released, and new versions of classic Amy songs.

Doesn't it matter anymore?

I haven't bought this CD and I don't intend to. I actually haven't bought one of her CDs in years - ever since she got divorced and started living in sin. Doesn't it matter anymore how someone lives? Actions speak louder than words (or songs). She got divorced. And worse, she continues to live in sin by living with Vince Gill. How can I take anything she has to say seriously? I don't want that kind of lifestyle to affect me so I got rid of my whole collection years ago.

I purchased the CD mainly for the song "Better than a Hallelujah" but was pleasantly surprised by the song she sings with her daughter called "Overnight" and other songs on the CD.

Love at First Listen

I started to look for this recording after hearing "Better Than A Hallelujah" on the radio. That song was and is very moving to me. When I found this CD, I discovered a teasure trove of great music to reflect on.

This is a CD that each playing reveals more to my heart and I am very taken with it.

I recommedn it highly to anyone and I thank Amy Grant for recording it and showing us all what a great musician she continues to be. I hadn't realized how long AMy has been recoding music until I started looking into her earlier recordings and realized how long she has been sharing her music with us.

Amy, thanks for another wonderful recording and I look foorward to hearing you in person some day!

A long way down the road!

Indeed it's been a long time down the road. 31 years to be exact since her first album "My Fathers Eyes"! Yea, there are a few songs I like here! Hard Times sounds like a decent track that could have been on Lead Me On! What Is The Chance Of That is a nice upbeat song, very catchy and lively! Somewhere Down The Road is a VERY nice ballad! This sounds like prime Amy Grant era! Arms Of Love and Imagine are pretty good remakes, they sound good as well! But a lot of the CD and the new songs are pretty boring to me! Too stripped down and dull. Better Than A Hallelujah, Overnight, Unafraid, Third World Woman, Find What Your Looking For, Come Into My World are all in this category. They all sound uninspired, flat, almost depressing. Amy just needs better songs! Not that it's going to sell her million of CDs and downloads anymore, those days are probably gone. But I am a huge fan of her older CD's especially her last 3 or 4 Christian CDs and her first few secular CD's. Really everything from Age To Age to House Of Love, over a 12 year period.! To me it was 1997, Behind The Eyes that she started to slip in terms of quality written songs and music. But sadly other than the 3 great songs I mentioned and a couple remakes, this CD is for die hard fans only and for Amy herself to continue her craft! Even in lets say 1991 when Heart In Motion came out, this material would NEVER propel her the way that that album did, and House Of Love, and the critically acclaimed Lead Me On! Besides being a pop music fan, I also like contemporary Christian and would also include the great lively and catchy pop Christian album Unguarded, the beautiful gospel songs on Straight Ahead and Age To Age! Somewhere Down The Road just doesn't come close to any of that. I am a fan alright, but not a die hard one. A fan of the older and the BETTER music she has put out. I have and listen to all those CDs and I seen her three times on tour during her prime (once after the release of the Behind The Eyes album during a December Christmas performance).
